Privacy policy

Kansha is a Shopify app that shows a one-question survey on the Thank you page and the Order status page of a merchant's store, and collects the answers for that merchant. This policy describes everything the app stores.
What Kansha stores
From the store
- The store domain (for example
example.myshopify.com). - An access token issued by Shopify when the app is installed. It is used only to authenticate the merchant's own admin pages inside Shopify.
- The survey settings the merchant enters: the question, the answer choices, and the message shown after answering.
From buyers
- The numeric ID of the order the survey was shown on.
- The answer — either the choice the buyer selected, or the text they typed.
- The date and time the answer was submitted.
Kansha does not request or store buyer names, email addresses, shipping addresses, payment details, or the contents of an order. The app requests no Shopify access scopes at all, so it cannot read products, customers, or orders.
Free-text answers are written by buyers and can contain whatever a buyer types, including personal information. Merchants decide what question to ask and are responsible for it.
Why it is stored
- The order ID is stored so that a buyer is asked at most once per order, and so the merchant can match an answer back to an order.
- The answers are shown to the merchant inside the app and can be exported as CSV.
Sharing
Kansha does not sell, rent, or share this data with third parties. There is no analytics, tracking, or advertising code in the app or in the block shown to buyers.
Data is stored on Cloudflare (Workers and D1), which acts as a processor on our behalf.
Retention and deletion
Answers are kept until they are deleted through one of the requests below, or until the app is uninstalled. Kansha handles Shopify's mandatory privacy webhooks:
- Customer data request — answers linked to the requested orders are collected so the merchant can pass them on.
- Customer redact — answers linked to the requested orders are deleted.
- Shop redact — every piece of the store's data (settings, answers, sessions) is deleted. Shopify sends this 48 hours after the app is uninstalled.
If you answered a survey
If you are a buyer and want your answer removed, contact the store you bought from. They can request deletion through Shopify, and Kansha deletes the answer when that request arrives.
